Past vs Present. Religion tends to take great inspiration from the past. It reveres the ancient religious texts, as the way to achieve salvation. Spirituality is not so concerned with the past. Spirituality believes in the eternal now.

I think there is a difference between spirituality and religion. Religion tends to place greater emphasis on outer forms and religious texts. Spirituality tends to place greater emphasis on inner spiritual practice like meditation. ... Religion vs spirituality ….. such a hard topic!

The problem is that people fail to see the difference between religion and spirituality. If we could rise above the structured view of religion, and focus on spirituality, perhaps we could see that there are many paths that one could conceivably follow.
