My hard drive has been acting up lately (a hitachi 60 GB ATA 4200 rpm) in a Dell Laptop, ... Do you still have the hidden reinstall partition on your hard disk? ... Every time you start the drive, the more it degrades. Time to shut it down, leave it down, till you get a recovery program. ; My recomendation is to remove the drive.

For this example the hard drive in question has a PRIMARY partition (approx 2Gb) and two LOGICAL DRIVES (each approx 1Gb) if I've just confused the hell out of you CLICK HERE ... 15. To remove the EXTENDED partition press 2 then {enter}.
