The declination of -90 deg is the direction of the South Celestial Pole (SCP), +90 deg the (opposite) direction of the North Celestial Pole (NCP), and the circle of declination 0 deg is the Celestial Equator. The longitudinal coordinate in this system, the Celestial Coordinate System, is the Right Ascension.
