I once had dry scalp and a littel scab formed, which I picked for months!!! That thing got big and deep and I would like picking it off even though it hurt. I also have a toenail picking problem. I remember seeing my mom do this, which she STILL DOES TO THIS DAY, and I think that's where I picked it up.

I have this seemingly uncontrollable urge to pick at scabs as well. Pick and pick. In a transe-like state. It is comforting. Even if it is painful. Ever since childhood. I am currently on Paxil for depression but, as of late, my depression is worse and so is my scab picking.

[Archive] Picking Scabs OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) ... A few days ago I started picking again. For me the satisfaction is the feeling of separating the scab from my head. I'm not sure if I'll get back into it seriously or not. I don't feel bad about picking and my fear of hurting myself has pretty much waned.

The primary characteristic of Compulsive Skin Picking (CSP) is the repetitive picking at one's own skin to the extent of causing damage. Usually, but not always, the face is the primary location for skin picking.
