Instead, I had to go through surgery called scleral buckle. Done on June 10th, I see progress after a week (still red eyes and fuzzy vision) the lost vision is regained, no more oil stain. I was off work for a second month, not at a bad time of year after all!

My new bionic eyeball sports a scleral buckle that encircles it to squish the sclera closer to the retina. The fluid was drained from behind the retina and a gas bubble was put in there to press against the large tear so that it could heal against the sclera.

Called an encircling scleral buckle or band, this lessens the pulling of the vitreous on the retina. The surgeon may make a tiny slit in the sclera and then puncture the space under the retina to drain the fluid.
