As a former Master Instructor and Chief of Training at the US Navy Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School (SERE) in San Diego, California I know the waterboard personally and intimately. SERE staff were required undergo the waterboard at its fullest.

I ended up out at the SERE Instructor Course at Camp Mackall in September ‘84. Camp Mackall has all of the charm of a POW camp. It was the home of the airborne forces during World War II. The course is 30 days long and culminates in a seven day survival and evasion phase.
