add your site description here ... It is very common, in fact it is the norm, for pitchers to have an increased external rotation in their pitching shoulder (see above). Years ago many pitchers would try to gain more external rotation by stretching their shoulder.

How is GIRD treated? We believe that 90% of all throwers with symptomatic GIRD and posterior shoulder tightness will respond positively to a posteroinferior capsular stretching program. The program is is a set of carefully designed stretches that selectively stretch different parts of the posterior capsule.

The range of motion of both shoulders was measured in 25 male little league pitchers. All pitchers underwent motion analyses of their pitching to evaluate shoulder kinematics. GIRD was found in 10 of the 25 pitchers.
