A sonar device emits one or more pulses of sound waves, which bounce off any objects they bump into and return to their source. A receiver collects the returning energy and records the time it took for the sound waves to make their round trips.

The new K Sonar device has been amazingly useful - and tremendously enjoyable to use! It's fantastic for providing earlier warning of obstacles than the cane can provide, so I can avoid them more smoothly. In particular, waist-level objects and below are much more visible with the K Sonar.
