Hernan Cortes, one of the Spanish explorers of Mexico, was a child of low nobility. He was born in 1458 in Medellin, Extremadura. Hernan Cortes had a wonderful education but left it to sail and seek fortune in the New World.

With 300 Aztecs to every one of Cortez's men the Spanish fought. After 3 battles the Indians gave up. They could not complete against the guns and horses. The Spaniards also wore metal armor. More than this the Indians were afraid of the "god-like" warriors.

Spanish armies were NEVER sent deep into America after DeSoto and Coronado. That is reason enough to suppose that they searched the better part of it. After all, Spain explored and/or colonized ALL of the New World elsewhere.
