I have never had a cat remotely interested in climbing a Christmas tree. One reminder out there. Never put tinsle ... Ppearson, really? Wow! I've only had a few cats that weren't interested in climbing the tree. ... Yes, I use a water pistol for Sammy. It works fine and he knows 'no' BUT it doesn't stop him from trying again.

My 7 month cats Lilly and Petunia wont leave the Christmas alone. Lilly keeps climbing the tree and Petunia keeps chewing on the light bulbs. What we did was spray red grapefruit body spray on the tree, and around it and they run away.

There is already some good ideas on this thread about getting kitty to stop climbing the Christmas tree, some cats just think great, you brought this tree in the house just for me! Using as someone already mentioned bitter apple.

What can you do to stop your cat from climbing the christmas tree??...This is her (kahlua) first christmas and she is climbing the tree, not all the way, it is an artificial tree, and the skirt ... The only thing that stopped my cats from climbing and chewing on the Christmas tree was to spray EVERYTHING with Bitter Apple.

A Christmas tree is an invitation for disaster for any cat. Several scat mats may work in discouraging your cat/s from going near the tree, but this solution can be costly and there is no guarantee that the scat mats will work. ... Yes it is pretty hilarious to see a pair of eyes in a tree ROFLMBO. Try the wood attatched to the tree stand I know it wont tip over but as far as keeping the cats out I guess a little spray from the water bottle wont hurt euther. ... There is NO way to stop us from climbing the Christmas tree! We love Christmas,
