It has been observed that residual stresses always build up during the fabrication of composite components. Such stresses can change the shape of a component when it is removed from the mould. This paper examines the spring-in induced during fabrication of composite angle components by such residual stresses.

Temperature induced stresses and deformations of thick cylindrical parts have been studied by a number of researchers using analytical approaches. However these approaches cannot solve a thick composite component with arbitrary geometry.

Internal deformations and stresses in deep soft tissues are critical factors in pressure sore onset and in necrosis of the muscle flap in residual limbs of amputees. Traditionally, finite element (FE) simulations were used to conduct basic research of these phenomena.
