The Subarctic natives can be divided into two groups. The Algonquians* lived generally east and south of the Hudson Bay. The more numerous Athapascans lived in the extensive Yukon and Mackenzie river drainages and in the valleys of other streams that drain into the Gulf of Alaska, Pacific and Arctic oceans.
