To recap, the symptoms are: - sudden loss of power, throttle makes rpms go DOWN slightly and cannot get past 1000rpm - then it clears and will rev at full throttle to about 4k rpm - will get enough to move car decently, then suddenly - VROOM!!! ... Subject: water in gas or bad cat?

With an automatic you will have to keep it in as high of a gear as you can and with all the gas you can without it down shifting, and the problem will show up. Glad I could help you. Good Luck!!! ... poor gas mileage, missing bad usually you can feel lagging, the best way is to take one out to see if it fouled or mis-gaped...

could someone give me symptoms of a torque converter going bad. Or one that is ... alright here are some symptoms that I am having. If I bring the car up to about 60 and easy roll on the gas the car will start to shudder at first easy then more violently until I either let off the gas or mash it down enough to downshift.
