After it’s healed, always wear sun block on your tattoo at the beach or if you may get sunburned, or at the tanning salon. It may be convenient for smaller tattoo care to carry sun block in the form of those little containers (like Chap stick) so it can just be rubbed on when needed.

RE:skin bumps underneath tattoo ... In most cases it is a sensitivity to your after care product. Can also be form having the area shaved or hairs growing back in. Also SUN! Try washing the area and doing a dry heal for a few days and then use a fragrant free white lotion like Lubriderm or Curel.

A note for dark tribal work - even years after your tattoo is healed if you are out in the sun you can get sun poisoning in your tattoo because the deep black will absorb the sun. If you do you will get little bumps in the black work from too much sun. they will of course heal but ... Other links about tattoo care:
