The difference between the isometric system and the tetragonal system is that one of the three axes is longer or shorter than the other two. This produces a unique direction in the tetragonal crystals giving rise to the reference of the tetragonal system as uniaxial.

Orthorhombic crystals are often shaped like rhombic prisms or dipyramids (two pyramids stuck together). They often look a bit like tetragonal crystals except that they are not square in cross section (when you look at the crystal on end)

In crystals of the isometric system each face is an identical equilateral triangle. In crystals of the tetragonal system each face is an identical isoceles triangle; this variant of the tetrahedron is called a tetragonal tetrahedron.

A Tetragonal crystal is a simple cubic that is stretched along its (c) axis to form a rectangular prism. The Tetragonal crystal will have a square base and top, but a height that is taller. By continuing to stretch the "body-centered" cubic one ... Crystals that form in the Monoclinic System have three unequal axes.
