My son's best friends gave up things they enjoyed for Lent. The female friend gave up porn and the male friend gave up novels which bothered my son far more than giving up porn. He would probably shrivel up and die if he could not read novels. ... I didn't give up anything for Lent.... but I gave up men...for Sue...

What I will do is add my second annual list of things to give up for Lent: ... 2 Responses to “10 Things to Give up for Lent” ... I work in a cafe/bakery and although our next door neighbor gave up brownies for Lent, she is still giving them to her coworkers as gifts. At least, that’s what she tells me when she comes in...

On Ash Wednesday, we at Higher Things Internet services, joked that we had "given up" graphics and fancy websites for Lent. (We didn't really, as you can tell by looking at our amazing new site!) People have the idea that the reason you give up something for Lent is to make yourself feel bad.
