I tried the dish washing detergent with plunger - no go. I tried the baking soda and vinegar with plunger - no go. Went to home depot and bought a $30 snake - there was one for $10 that would have worked and had it fixed in 10 minutes for toilet paper clog.

The smell was foul, the beds were filthy ( pubic hair and feces), bathroom door did not close properly ( nor did it lock, and was full of what appeared to be punch holes), toilet was plugged ( and no plunger!). The room was also missing a coffee maker and an alarm clock.

If you have tried plunging, and tried snaking to no avail consider using a wet/dry vacuum. Just aim the hose down the toilet and turn on the vacuum, when the bowl is empty, flush and repeat.
