As there is no specific category for tongue clipping, this is where I shall write about it. In my family, my siblings, myself, my son, and his son were all born tongue tied. This just means that the largest salivary gland, under the tongue is not loose enough to allow language to develop in the normal way for the child.

Posted by Jessica on Sunday, July 11, 2004 at 10:00:09 ... Should I recommend tongue clipping for this child? There are so many conflicting views on the subject and his doctor is leaving the decision in my court. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I just got a referral from a teacher about a student who had "tongue clipping" surgery when the child was little. I am not familiair with this type of surgery (not sure what is the medical terminology for it). The teacher said that the child did not speak until after the surgery (2 yrs old).
