I was recently diagnosed with what's called a tortuous colon - meaning it's extra long and got extra twists to it. Appparently this is one of the problems involved with why I can go 5 days and not have a bowel movement, and not even feel the need to go.

It is a fancy term for a colon that is longer and perhaps more "twisted" than normal. It is NOT a precursor to colon cancer. It is likely a result of both diet and genetic predisposition. ... What is a tortuous colon? how is it treated? What caused it? diet? stress? Is it precursor to colon cancer?

I have recently been diagnosed with having both tortuous colon (sigmoid and transverse colon) and diverticulosis (sigmoid colon) via colonoscopy. I would like to know how much more likely is it that the diverticulosis could worsen because of the tortuous colon?

Question: Last year, after a lifetime of struggling with my colon, it was discovered that I had a megacolon. In November I had an internal colostomy leaving about a foot of colon. I had about 8 feet of "extraordinarily tortuous" colon.
