For the record, I favor the sin/transgression distinction, although I tend to do it along different lines than Elder Oaks. To me the fundamental problem is that in the garden of Eden Adam and Eve were innocent and did not know good or evil.

With reference to the definitions of sin, etc: Paul said that where no law is, there is no transgression. That makes common sense. Christ said that the law and the Prophets were unto John the Baptist. Wherefore, we are not under Law, but under grace of Jesus Christ.
