I downloaded and ran a winsock fix utility which eliminated the socket errors, but my wired and wireless connections both still hang at acquiring network address. If I go into command prompt to refresh my IP addresses it gives me the error that the RCP server could not be found. ... Re: Trouble Acquiring Network Address...

I had the same trouble, but with my desktop, we had just switched providers (from Verizon to Comcast) and up until comcast switched everything our dsl worked great – but my desktop wouldn't connect to the internet (kept saying acquiring network address).

The lan connection status is 'acquiring network address'. I am currently connected directly to the versalink, linksys is not connected, dsl connection is fine and is being used, lan connection is acquiring network address.

"Acquiring Network Address" bug with SP2 Windows XP General ... "acquiring network address"even though I'm clearly connected. I assume this is just some sort of bug with SP2 since I've never seen it before SP2 but I figured I would post and see if there were any fixes for this out there.
