We have one similar to what you described but it's converted to a "covered wagon" now with seat, bows, a sheet and two good sized mules to pull it. Like I said our running gear is similar in size and build but your friends is built more for hauling some serious weight.

-- wagon (runnng gear). It is all iron ; (steel?) except for the "coupling pole" and the "tongue", which are wood. This means spokes are iron/steel too. In the hubs it has roller bearings which are about 4" outside diameter and about 8" long.
