In exchange for the cable + $30, the guy I bought the winch from threw in a Warn factory 8274 mounting plate. This plate was 27" wide, which was perfect for his Scout II and for Jeep CJ's, but it was about 6" too ... A good wiring diagram for the 8274 can be found at the bottom of the aforementioned BillaVista writeup.

Warn Winch assy. Item #38 is a thermal cut-off switch which will prevent the motor from over heating. Item #33 are the solenoids ... Wiring of the Warn Winch. Note that this drawing down show the connection of the "Electronic Current Limiter", the item I believe will be where the problem is when the winch will not pull in.

Which is a WARN HS9500, with the remote solenoids. There are 3-power wires to the motor, and terminals F-1, F2, and A. I can test the voltage at each lead here in a bit, what should go were?? Solenoids click, but the winch don't run. ... Warn's web site is down, and I searched did not find a wiring diagram, but did see...
