They found a farm on Dingle Hill and lived there until the end. Mom's biggest holidays were July 4th and Thanksgiving Day. I can remember as a child waiting patiently on Thanksgiving Day to eat dinner. The boys always ate first and the girls and the kids would have to wait until they were done.

In 2006, road signs were changed, and Dingle disappeared from government maps, but virtually all private businesses kept the Dingle in their names. A local artist built a huge, wooden Hollywood-style sign on a hill above the town reading "DINGLE." It was short-lived, but the battle was far from over.
