Q: I have a weeping birch tree that's about 32 years old. It has some rows of holes in the main trunk that I think are caused by a sapsucker. I don't think that they are D-shaped enough for them to be a birch borer problem.

Another “white” birch is Young’s weeping birch (Betula pendula ‘Youngii’), a 6’-12’ dwarf variety that can be grown in zones 3-9. In addition to its white bark and yellow fall foliage, the form of this tree provides landscaping interest.
