Donkeys eat grasses and love hay. They also eat pellet food. Grasses very high in protein like alfalfa are typically not good for donkeys.

Donkeys are herbivores. Donkeys eat the same basic foods as a horse except a Donkey can eat near inedible vegetation that is much harder to digest. Grain, grass, tree leaves, fruit, corn, etc.

HERD SIRES; JENNETS; DONKEYS WE'VE SOLD ... They can develop sharp points on their teeth which can make sores in their mouths, making it difficult to eat. If you know your donkey's habits and usual behavior, you'll notice if there appears to be a problem with their eating and apparent comfort.

At least, not when you're asked to choose between monkeys and donkeys. All these years, we have elected monkeys to look after the banana plantation. They not only ate all the bananas they wanted but even assumed that we, Come the next election, I'll try voting for the donkeys. The question is: do donkeys eat bananas?
