What do the Dead Sea Scrolls say about Jesus? ; Nothing. The Dead Sea Scrolls predate Jesus and do not mention him. A few scholars once argued that the "Teacher of Righteousness" mentioned in the texts referred to Jesus, but as more of the scrolls have been published, this theory has been completely discredited.

A good example of a group which separated itself from society at large and defined itself against the Temple in Jerusalem are the Essenes, or perhaps you might say, the people of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Dead Sea community, whom most scholars regard as Essenes.

1.The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in eleven caves along the northwest shore of the Dead Sea between the years 1947 and 1956. The area is 13 miles east of Jerusalem and is 1300 feet below sea level. The mostly fragmented texts, are numbered according to the cave that they came out of.
