[Archive] What is Bridge Mode. ADSL discussions ... Q - What is bridge mode? Is it bad if an ISP indicates that the modem's bridge mode must be turned off. I don't know if this is just the sugested setting or if it is requiered to connect to the ISP.

I have a few machines that are connected to other ISPs and they ALL use bridge mode with rp-pppoe, so if that works with TPG all I need to do is a copy of the setup (rc based files, iptables etc) from the other machines ...

what Joedykie says is almost right if the modem is a 6100 or a 2200 the 327w is a little different to get into bridge mode. Here are the steps; 1 type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar; 2 modem secure password admin(user name) and admin for the(password);
