You have a built in thermometer for "lukewarm", your finger!! Lukewarm is just a hair above the human's body temperature of 98.6, around 105 degrees. So if you can place your finger in the water and it JUST feeling warm, not hot or cool, then you have the right water temperature!!

Although the hot water from the taps is very hot, only tepid water comes from the shower - even when it is set to full hot. If I hold the shower head down in the bath the water gets warmer. I have a traditional gravity fed sytem with hot water tank on the same level as the bathroom (upstairs).

Over 20 years (and at least 20 cars) we have applied hot (though not actually boiling) water round all the glass, often two kettlefuls for a large car and thick frost. Two generous applications all round helps warm up the glass and prevents immediate re-icing.
