The Postern Gate was JD Wetherspoons first pub in York (very shortly followed by them taking over The Punchbowl on Blossom Street). The Postern Gate is in the same building as the Travelodge hotel, which was designed to fit in with the near-by city walls -- unfortunately the pub has a luminous blue sign!
