The New Mexico Highway Department has designated a 17 mile stretch of Interstate 10 from the Interstate 25 split to the Texas state line as a "Safety Corridor". They have implemented double fines for speeding ($69 to a maximum of $439!) and the enforcement has been greater than usual.
