If you are very competitive, then 4-5 minutes would be good for boys, and 5-7 minutes for girls. If you're on the track team however, you should hopefully be able to improve and run a little bit faster than your current pace.

To answer the question: Any time a kid can run under 7 min for a mile as a 12 year old, I'd say ... the absolute fastest I can run 1 mile is 4 minutes and 39 seconds because my heart rate goes to around 210. Average would be about 6 minutes because I don't have patience so I would rather do it faster and get it done with.
