It's combination of mucus, tears, leaked blood cells, dead skin cells from the eyelids,and dust that blinking normally washes away

Eye crust is made of is sweat, oil, and tears. Your eyelashes prevent this from dripping by your eyes while awake, but not asleep!

A hot compress also helps people like me who get mucous on their eyelids, because it cleans away dried up crust, and get all of the mucous off of the lashes. Some people just get recurring styes. I can't really help you much there,

The running joke for the past few days is a story I told Steph about my friend Holly calling the crust that's in your eyes when you wake up "ducky butter." For some reason, Steph thought that was the funniest thing EVER, so now everything is "ducky butter!" As you can tell, we all REALLY need to get out more.
