Utopia is when the community or society is perfect or ideal, dystopia is when the condition of that place is extremely bad or unpleasant.

I think the difference between a Utopia and a Dystopia is the light in which it is shown. From what I've read a number of "Utopias" are in fact Dystopias. As another note a number of members if not all members in a Dystopia believe, completely believe, that their "Dystopia" is in fact a Utopia.
