The arquebus - which was a kind of nuclear weapon at that time because it made a lot of noise - the gunpowder, the crossbows and, fundamentally, the horses were enough for them to take possession of that land in the name of a king.

The ball was not a musket-ball - it was an arquebus-ball. The justness of the aim had first given him the idea that a particular kind of weapon had been employed. This could not then, be a military ambuscade, as the ball was not of the regular caliber.
