Since I am unilateraly placing the Caucasus into a "Middle East" continent, that leaves the Alps alone as truly serious mountains in Europe. ... The longest mountain range is the arc of the Carpathians, running from Romania to eastern Germany, which is longer but narrower than the Alps in their course from Austria to France.
