My dad has 140 acres and he seriously paid $16 in property taxes last year because of the ag exemption. It's not high dollar acreage like in Central Texas but still if he didn't have the exemption it would've been around $2500-3000 in taxes.

I've always heard that the minimum you need to get the ag-exemption in Texas is two cows, but I that's all I've ever heard about it..... A neighbor's decided he finally wants to get "into farming" simply to lower his taxes on a small 20acre "plot" he bought down the road, and asked me about it..
