[Archive] Starting to feel my uterus November 2004 ... I can feel mine and I've been able to for a couple weeks. I'm two months along. Last time, by 2 1/2 or 3 months, if I lay on my back you could see the lump of my uterus above the pubic bone, and it was definitely the uterus because I was quite thin at the time.

Have you seen your doctor? What's Going On with Your Body?; Your waistline may begin growing this week, though you're probably not showing. ... If you press your abdomen, you may feel your enlarged uterus -- it's about the size of a softball.

Hi - I am 15 weeks and all of the books I am reading have been saying for the last few weeks that I should be able to feel the top of my uterus about 3-4 inches below my navel. How do I know what I am feeling for?

In the past two months I have been able to feel my uterus and feel it hardening, as can my sister-in-law/Mother of 2 and my best friend/mother of one. Was he maybe unable to feel it because it's tilted back or because I'm heavier, I was a size 13/14, now I'm a 16 almost a 18.

Your uterus is now about the size of a small grapefruit and just about fills your pelvis. If you press your fingers into your belly just above your pubic bone, you may be able to feel it.

The surgeon is able to feel the uterus, which is helpful in locating myomas that may be deep in the uterine wall. The ability to touch the uterus facilitates repairing the uterus. The disadvantage of a laparotomy is that it requires an abdominal incision.
