A Burrowing Owl can breed the summer after it hatches and every summer thereafter. The female will lay six to twelve (average nine) ping pong ball-sized eggs. The eggs are incubated by the female for 21 - 28 days. The adult Burrowing Owls return to their breeding grounds in Canada between late April and early May.
