The female White-throated Sparrow builds a cup nest of coarse grasses on the ground along forest edges and where scrubby growth predominates. From 4 to 6 pale blue eggs blotched with chestnut red are incubated by the female for up to two weeks.

The white-throated sparrow also finds seeds hidden in grasses and weeds. Zonotrichia albicollis also feed on wild fruits from blackberry tangles, shrubbery, and insects when available and feed young in the nest almost exclusively insects.

On 5 June 1971 I found a White-throated Sparrow nest in a 20-foot fallen spruce that lay across a little-used trail in a dry, fairly open area 1 mile southwest of T Lake Falls in Hamilton County, New York.

The White-throated Sparrow has two color morphs that are equally represented in the population- ... Either sex can be white-striped or tan-striped, but they usually pair with a member of the other color morph.
