Many people have asked about the anchor-buoy system I invented to keep my boat from going dry at low tide so I put this page together to show how it's done. I've experimented with different systems since 1993. Each one improves upon the last.

The November 22, 1890 edition of the Denton Journal of Denton, Maryland, ran a small article entitled, “Luminous Buoy.” According to the news report, “Experiments have been made at Havre (de Grace) with a luminous buoy invented by M. Dibos.

However, several sanctuaries have placed buoys at special places. The Key Largo national marine sanctuary, which is now part of the larger Florida Keys sanctuary, invented a mooring buoy several years ago to provide an alternative to dropping an anchor that might damage a coral reef.
