The more sincere among us believe that the presidential race was about truth, principle and patriotism. I hate to be the one to the bad news but it wasn t. It was about power.

It was said long ago that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. George Bush would have been a better President if there was somebody to challenge him. Even John McCain had to lessen his criticism of the President when he realized that Bush might help him run for president.

Thank God Samantha Power has resigned from the Obama campaign. Her style of honest, brash, off-the-cuff statement-making has no place in presidential politics. Political operatives should not say anything other than the talking points handed down from the campaigns' higher-ups.
