This may have stemmed from the observation that bleached blonde hair (considered to be eye-catching) was a popular choice for the often poor, ... Of course, blondes are not dumb, or at least no moreso than any other person. It is a stereotype, which is a trait that is unfairly applied to a large group of people simply because a few individuals in that group have that trait.
