TODAY'S TRIVIA: COLOR BULL The myth is that the color red is offensive to bulls and causes them to charge. This is why bullfighters use a red cape. They are charging because they are being tormented (and drugged) by the matador and others in the ring. The red capes are used only for tradition (and theatrics).

I've seen Matadors use capes of various colors (red, pink, green embroidery on the reverse side, etc), but red is traditional. The bull doesn't care what color the cape is because he can't see it.
