Every so often my bellybutton starts to stink and if I stick my finger in there I find this goo which smells absolutely disgusting. It is quite obvious that your belly button stinks because you might need to wash it perhaps. But, if that is not the case, then you may have an infection of some sort. Sweat and bacteria build up there. You should definitely see your doctor...

I have the same problem right now and yes I did smell my finger because it was wet. I had the same problem a few years ago and I use peroxide on it and it went away. Size has nothing to do with it stay cool and smell what you want too.

I just asked my physician that last week, as I have an *innie* belly button. He has it's warm and moist in there and bacteria is trapped in there along with oil, and when it hits the air, it has an odor and it doesn't smell because incased in it's own place.

Hello, This is going to sound strange, but I have always been curious about this...why does my belly button have an odor if I rub my finger inside of it and smell it? Is this normal? There is no odor unless I make direct contact like with my finger and smell it.
