Kevin, before dismissing Winking Owl wine, please listen to this short true story. A few weeks ago, we attended a dinner where each person brought his or her own wine. Of the four couples at our table, I would say that three brought wines costing more than $10 each.

REVIEWS: Winking Owl Vineyards Shiraz ... Winking Owl Vineyard’s Shiraz wine is sold by Aldi’s supermarkets. It retails for 2.99 a bottle. I was curious to try this because you never know if a bottle of wine that retails for 2.99 will be any good. I have had some low cost wines that werent.

If you have an Aldis nearby you can pick up bottles of their Winking Owl wine for $2.49. The chardonnay and cab-sav are tolerable table winse, but watch ou for the merlot, which is foul. (Or fowl? )

The team tested out mid-priced and high-priced wines and compared those to the $2.49 bottle equivalent from Aldi, the low-price grocery store. In the red wine category, the mid-priced and high-priced wines won. But with white wine, nearly everyone preferred Winking Owl, the Aldi brand.
