While birding in general is a little slow this time of year, woodpeckers are certainly not in short supply in this forest. In one hour (2 miles), I had 6 of the 7 possible species, 26 birds total. Kept hoping for a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker to complete the sweep, but no luck. ... Still, as a woodpecker lover, I'll take 6.
