There is one option where I can adjust brightness, gamma, stuff like that..but I don't think thats what I adjusted. Those are all set on defaults. ... but i have toshiba with a "power saver" program allowing me to adjust battery life by brightness, cpu usage, memory.. etc.. see if you can find anything similar..

Computer Monitors: Contrast ... This is usually controlled by the brightness and contrast settings. This can get complicated and confusing since both controls seem to control the brightness of the screen when you actually play with them. I have found that on most monitors you can just set the "contrast" control to maximum.
