In many ways, the verses of the Fatiha are virtually identical to a prayer that Jesus gave, called the Lord's Prayer, as recorded in Matthew 6:9-13, and are also nearly identical to the Gayatri Mantra which was given in the Rig Veda.

Surah Al-Fatihah is one of the very earliest revelations. Infact, we learn from authentic traditions that it was the first complete surah revealed to the Prophet (Peace be upon him). Before this, only a few miscellaneous verses were revealed which form parts of surah Al-Alaq, ... in his famous book ... Number of Ayat;

One of the companions went and he recited Suratul Fatiha; and he blew on the chief and the chief was cured. ... He also said that in Suratul Fatiha, listen to it, there is a cure for every illness. So Suratul Fatiha is not only Fatihatul Kitaab- it is not only that which opens the book, it opens much more than the book.

This is surat Al-fatiha, the greatest surah in the Qur’an. Which the companions of the prophet chose it to be the beginning of Qur’an. Also Allah chose it to be repeated seventeen time per day in the prayer and about double this if a person prayed the sunnan.
