I'm 26 and I found out I had a bicornate uterus about a year ago along with a wall of tissue (tranversed vaginal septum) blocking the entrance to my uterus. I had surgery on 1/30/08 to remove the wall of tissuse and to get a bettter look at the uterus.

There are a number of ways that a uterus can be shaped differently from "normal". The most common is the bicornuate uterus, which means the uterus has two horns. These are caused by something that goes wrong in the normal development of the open uterine cavity from the two tubes;

Hey i'ts disheartening to find out you have a bicornate uterus. Mine was detected quite a few years ago after 2 micariages. Ihad a test called hysterosalphingogram or hsg for short. they run a radiopaque dye into your reproductive system.

I just found out I have a bicornate uterus and don't know anything about it. All I know is my uterus is heart shaped with two horns (whatever that means). The only definition I could find on it says there is a much higher risk for miscarriage, premature birth and infertility.

For those who don't know what a bicornate uterus is I will explain. It basically means that your uterus is heart shaped, as it has two horns instead of being connected. There are higher risks for preterm delivery, and incompetant cervix.

I have a bicornate uterus with a septum dividing my womb into two. The left hand side has a cervix and all seems to be ok. The right hand side appears... ... I don't think that the fact you have a bicornate uterus will affect your management when compared to a woman with a normal uterus. The problems are the same.
